The overarching goal of Optimal Health Research (OHR) is to develop mixtures of natural compounds that increase health span and wellness, as well as prevent and help treat cancer. The means of achieving this goal is based on 30+ years of training and practice of medical nutrition in the field, as well as clinical and preclinical research studies that are under way at OHR.
Large body of research shows that dietary habit is one of the most important determinants of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease and cancer. For example, most common cancers are prevalent in the western world, while their incidence is much lower in Asian countries where a balanced diet that includes more vegetables and fruits and less fat/meat intake is common. Therefore, the diet and the environment greatly influence cellular function and health. In addition to the regular nutrients, human diets that include plant-based foods contain thousands of compounds that play an important role in maintaining health and wellness. Research has shown that some of these compounds impact the physiology by affecting specific molecular targets or pathways. This is also the basis for the development of many cancer chemotherapeutics that are derived from plants and widely used in the clinic.
At OHR we believe that specific formulations of sets of vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and plants can not only boost normal health and wellness, but also can serve to prevent and help cure cancer. Our experience of treating greater than 5000 patients and the initial results from clinical studies on our proprietary products attests to this.
